diffrent rules to design these kinds of structures against seismic forces, but theses codes don’t take into account effect of other extreme events such as impact of explosion, car, airplane, and etc. with pays attention to more applicability of steel moment resisting structures, studing them against progressive collapse seems necessary. This paper studies the behavior of steel moment resistant frame structures against progressive collapse which has been analyzed by UBC94 seismic codes and has been designed by steel design code UBC97-ASD. 3d-frame structures were used in this paper. They have 3, 5, 8, 15 stories with three types of symmetric plan. Effect of slab and contribution of other elements such as adjacent beams and columns in determinig the behavior of structure were investigated. The models also incorporate non-linear material characteristics and non-linear geometric behavior. At first, the applied analytical procedure is compared with test results such that the hypotheses used in the analytic models have a good agreement with the test results on these structures. Aims of this article are consideration the effect of height, Span length, place of collapsing column on vertical displacement of the node on top of the removed column and upon internal forces of adjacent beams and columns.
