In fact, Modal Incremental Dynamic Analysis is the faster way to obtain IDA capacity curves. For the first time in this article, 3D models are employed for studying of effects of geometrical irregularity and near field records on this method. For reaching this purpose, 12 structures in 4 different varieties of geometrical irregularities and three type of stories such as 6,12 and 18 stories are exposed under the near field records; and the result of obtained MIDA is compared with the exact method of the IDA. Study of these parameters reveals that the speed of seismic demand curves obtaining in 3D models is astonishingly faster than IDA method. This method cannot operate exactly and precisely in low rise and medium rise buildings as IDA method in near field records. Therefore, MIDA is not suitable in low and medium rise buildings in near field records. At last, it is obtained that in the irregular structures, it is better to change this method with some better criteria instead of drift as damage index criterion.
