Peer Review Process

Initial Evaluation by the Editor-in-Chief  (Timeframe: 1 week – from submission to preliminary review)

After the manuscript is submitted to the journal system by the author(s), it undergoes an initial structural and general quality assessment by the editor-in-chief. Based on the structural format and overall quality, some manuscripts may be rejected due to not meeting the necessary criteria.

Specialized Peer Review (Timeframe: 3 to 4 weeks)

All manuscripts are reviewed by expert referees in the relevant research field, and the editorial board makes the final decision based on reviewers' feedback. In some cases, a third reviewer may also be assigned.

The journal applies the Single-Blind Peer Review model, where reviewers are anonymous to authors. Reviewers' comments, questions, and suggestions (e.g., "Reviewer 1", "Reviewer 2", etc.) remain confidential and are not shared with others except the authors.

Final Decision (Timeframe: 1 week)

After peer review, the manuscript will receive one of the following decisions:

  • Acceptance as-is (no revision required)
  • Acceptance after minor revisions
  • Acceptance after major revisions

  • Rejection

Note:
Receiving reviewer feedback and making revisions does not guarantee final acceptance. All decisions depend on the editorial board's evaluation of the revised manuscript.

The peer-review process in the Journal of Steel & Structure, from submission to final publication, is as follows:
