In the Name of the Creator
Steel, known for its high strength, durability and ductility, has always played a vital role in shaping civilizations. As a key construction material referenced in the Holy Quran and emphasized by Islamic teachings, it holds a special place in the memory of Muslim communities and has consistently maintained its position of significance throughout history due to its wide-ranging benefits.
Despite the emergence of new construction materials and technological advancements, steel continues to maintain its place in the economy. Its positive characteristics — such as strength, ductility, and ease of use — have allowed it to retain its position in the industry. Today, the global demand for steel is steadily increasing, and steel consumption per capita is considered an indicator of industrial development. For developing countries with young and growing populations, such as Iran, steel consumption — particularly in the housing and construction sectors — is rapidly rising. In Iran, the steel industry has reached a production volume of approximately eight million tons per year. This growing trend highlights the need for organizations that can monitor and guide developments in the field.
In this regard, the main goals of the Journal of Steel & Structure are:
Developing and promoting new scientific and technical knowledge in the field of structural steel.
Organizing and defining strategies for research and technological development in line with national policies.
Reforming and enhancing educational and academic systems related to steel and structural engineering.
Identifying and addressing the problems of engineers who are distant from academic settings, and keeping graduates up to date.
Strengthening the relationship between universities and industry by introducing practical and applied content into academic discussions.
Providing educational support at various levels — including technicians, foremen, skilled workers, and students — to improve their knowledge and capabilities.
With the efforts of respected university professors and approval from the esteemed Scientific Committee, the Journal of Steel & Structure was launched as a scientific-research publication under the support of the Iranian Steel Structures Association. This journal was officially licensed as a scientific-research publication on January 22, 2005 (1383/11/03) and received its publication license under license number 95/2910/3 from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
We hereby invite all respected researchers and engineers to submit their scientific articles to this journal and contribute to the continuation of its mission.
